This is a character sketch of The Great Gatsby's Jordan accompanied by writing activities which encourage students to really get into the character of Jordan.
The notes give general information about Jordan and her role in the plot.
There are 6 writing tasks. These activities test students' knowledge of the novel and of Jordan; and their ability to write in different styles/formats. They are high order WRITING tasks designed to improve student's abilities in different styles of writing, as well as testing their grasp of the novel. Styles include:
- Diary Entry
- Newspaper Article / Report
- Magazine Interview
- Text (SMS) Message Exchange.
Most assignments include hints, sub-headings or structure guides to provide a starting point or scaffolding to help students get started.
These activities could easily be used for summative assessment.
