Whole Body Listening is a powerful way to engage your students. It really helps your students to understand how to listen and focus on what is happening in class. By incorporating whole body listening into your daily teaching, your students will start to understand how they need to use their entire body to listen in class. Once whole body listening becomes part of their everyday routine, it will greatly improve their focus and learning.
This unit includes
*Whole Body Listening Poster for desk and carpet that you can place in your room (color and black/white)
*A poster for each body part showing whole body listening (8 different posters - mouth, eyes, ears, brain, heart, hands, feet, body)
*Smaller posters showing whole body listening that can be taped on students’ desks (color and black/white)
*KWL organizer and a brainstorming graphic organizer
*Student Creation Activity - Have your students create a picture of themselves showing whole body listening. After they have created the picture, have them label each part with a sentence explaining their whole body listening - similar to the class poster. You can also have the students create a life size poster and label the parts. This could be posted in your room for students to reference.
*Writing prompts - There are several different writing prompts about whole body listening. Students can write about using whole body listening and create a picture showing what they wrote about. You can also have students create a book about whole body listening with the different writing prompts.
*QR Codes - These can be used as a whole class "I Spy" activity, center or small group activity, partners, or as an individual assessment. Includes a writing response sheet also.
*Match-Up Activity - This can be used as a center or small group activity, partners, or as an individual assessment. Includes a writing response sheet also.
