This unit is based on the idea of Whole Brain Teaching and intended for introducing the place value of tens and ones to primary learners. It utilizes storytelling to teach new concepts. The key to success is using visual aids, such as anchor charts, and having the students repeat and model with gestures as much as possible.
We also have class "huddles" or small groups. These huddles compete against one another to apply what they have learned and solve problems.
Complete your lesson with a place value memory game that can be laminated for classroom use or sent home for extra practice!
