This activity is to better define the gray area that comes with the whole brain teaching rule, “Keep your dear teacher happy.” This activity is ideal for the first day of school while teaching the rules and procedures.
Students will sort phrases into two categories: Happy or Unhappy. Students will decide if each phrase will keep their teacher happy or make her unhappy.
First page: I have included 7 phrases that will make a teacher happy, and 7 phrases that will make a teacher unhappy.
Second page: I left this page blank so teachers may fill in their own phrases that make them happy or unhappy if they are different from mine.
Third page: There are two columns labeled “Happy” and “Unhappy.” Students must paste where each phrase from page 1 (or 2) goes.
Fourth Page: Answer key.
Fifth Page: This is a bonus page. Students may color the teacher and write words around her lovely face that would keep her teacher. (This may be an alternative for children with IEPs. They might want to draw what makes them happy.)
I hope this is helpful! Thank you for looking!
