This is a two-slide SMART Notebook file. The first slide contains a table that is a tally chart. The second slide contains instructions. The tally chart has four quadrants with a light blue background. The upper left quadrant has a smiley face and the upper right quadrant has a sad face. The two faces have the "Infinite Cloner" function turned on. According to Whole Brain Teaching (wholebrainteaching.com), a class can earn smileys for good actions and sad faces for poor actions. Simply touch the smiley and drag a copy of it down into the tally area. At the end of the class period, you and the students have a visual representation of how well they did that day. You can use it to facilitate discussions about behavior or administer rewards or reinforcements.. If you don't have a SMART Board, you can use your computer and mouse to click and drag the faces. The page can easily be reset for the next class. You also have the option of saving the class's progress as a page or as a separate SMART Notebook file. This scoreboard is intended for use with grades Preschool through 4th, although it has been successfully used with 5th grade. Whole Brain Teaching recommends using a point system (class vs. teacher) for 5th grade and up.
