This set of math practice sheets provides practice with addition of whole numbers, when the sum is within 1,000. It is aligned to the 3rd grade common core standard 3.NBT.2 (“Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction”).
Each practice sheet has 20 problems, and there are ten practice sheets at each of three difficulty levels, for a total of 600 practice problems. The practice sheets are provided a in worksheet format (all the problems on one page) and a two-column "test" format. Answer keys and an optional student answer sheet are also included.
Use these sheets for basic skills practice, spiraled practice, an additional practice resource for students who haven't mastered the skill yet, etc. The three different difficulties can be used to assist in differentiating or scaffolding students to reaching the highest difficulty.
If you would like to see what the sheets will look like, check out the Sample, or look at the free download of Whole Number Addition.
Perfect Practice Sheets for other skills in 4th grade and other grade levels are available here.
The three different difficulty levels are labeled by "Version" -
Version A – This is the easiest version. Most minuends will be five-digit, but minuends may range between one and five digits. The difference can be between one and five digits.
Version B – This is the middle version. Most minuends will be six-digit, but minuends may range between three and six digits. Differences can be between one and six digits.
Version C – This is the hardest version. All minuends and differences will be six-digits.
In other words the practice sheet labeled “Version B5” is the fifth of ten practice sets that are of middle difficulty.
