Put the trees in a pocket chart. Pick a tree and put the owl behind it. Students should close their eyes or turn around when hiding the owl. Students will take turns guessing what word the owl is behind. The student who gets it right gets to choose a tree to put the owl behind. Be sure no one can see the owl when it is hidden.
Differentiated to meet your students' needs:
Tier 1: Red CVC Words
Tier 2: Blue CVCC and CCVC Words
Tier 3: Green Mostly CCVCC Words
