Product Description
When meeting students at my new school, it amazed me how many of them had no idea what the School Counselor does. Especially the little guys; they did not realize how much we could help them.

Further more they were unsure of who they would go to if they found themselves in various sticky situations such as if they got sick in class or if there was a bully on the playground.

Through the use of posters and an interactive game, this resource attempts to solve this problem by teaching just who the School Counselor is, as well as whom they could go to if they had a problem.

Included in this resource are:
******“Who’s the School Counselor” Class Introduction Activity******
Three 8 x 10 posters
*Who’s the School Counselor?
*The Limits of Confidentiality
*The Three Domains of School Counseling
(poster will need to be read and explained to students)
Counseling in Progress Door Sign
Student Referral for Counseling Sheets
Worksheet for PreK-First Grade
Worksheet for Second Grade
Career Cube

******“Who Would You Go To Sliders” Game******
8 Sliders Templates (can print unlimited amount)
72 “Who Would You Go To” Cards

Here’s How I Like to Use This Resource:
Introduce yourself to the class and have them play with the career cube in groups of 2-4 for 5 to 10 minutes. Have each student role the question cube and tell something that person would do.

Example: I landed on librarian.
They could help me pick out books!
Example: I landed on bus driver.
If someone was being mean on the bus, the bus driver would be the best person to go to.

I would take this time to discuss the jobs on the cubes (bus driver, librarian, school counselor, teacher, coach, resource officer, parents, school nurse, custodian, or principal).

Then I would use the posters to explain my specific roles and responsibilities as a School Counselor. After the roles have been explained, I would play the “Who Would You Go To?” sliders game!

How Do I Play?
Print, laminate, and cut apart “Who Would You Go To” cards. Pick cards you would like to use (not all are best suited for Prek or Second Grade). Then place cards upside down in a pile. One at a time, pick a card and read it out loud. Using the sliders, have students show you who they would go to in the situation by displaying their answer in the answer box. Work in groups or with individual students.

Slider Construction.
*pictures included in download*
Print single sided. Laminate. Cut apart half page Sliders. Cut apart bookmark sized Sliders Strips. Leave the white tips at the top and bottom of sliders intact (only cut vertically). Glue/staple a slider piece from each page together to create an extended slider strip.

Once all pieces are cut apart and glued:
1) Cut slits along the two black lines in the slider card.
2) Place the slider strip behind the card.
3) Push the slider strip through the front of the first slit (from the
back), and out through the second slit (from the front).
4) Enjoy becoming known at your school and teaching students
who can help them in various situations.

This resource includes EVERYTHING you need to become well known and welcomed into the new school year by your students.
Good luck with introducing yourself to your students!
