Most of the pages in this activity are with a yellow background since they are descriptions of the lesson for the teacher - not student hand outs. There are also five white pages at the end with illustrations that the teacher may want to have the students see from a digital projector.
Differential Gravitational Force (the reasons for two high tides) are explained in a fashion using four students standing in front of the class to represent the Moon, the Earth and waters of the Earth on opposite sides. Each student for the Earth and the waters of the Earth step sideways in different amounts. When finished, the students representing water bulge away from the person representing the Earth.
The lesson continues to discuss the time for a high tide to get to a low tide. Also how someone standing on a coastal shore thinks when a high tide comes in . Finally, students learn about the difference between Spring Tides and Neap Tides.
