Product Description

I used this PowerPoint Presentation to discuss the importance of studying History. This can be used for anyone who teaches Social Studies!

It covers skills that we learn by studying History, careers that require a good sense of history, it also prompts engaging conversations about the US and our history of successes and mistakes.

At the end of the presentation there is an activity that explores why it is so important to be an informed citizen and the problems it can prevent (racism, xenophobia, homophobia, forms of discrimination, etc.) It also has an activity that allows students to create a poster and present it to the class.

This was my favorite way to start the year! It gave my students concrete reasons for studying History and described its importance in ways they understand.
