Honeybees communicate by doing a dance. When a bee finds a new source of food, she will return to the hive and do a wiggle dance to let everyone know where the source of food is. During the wiggle dance, the bee will tell where the food is by the direction the bee moves in relation to the hive. If the bees move vertically, the direction is directly towards the sun to find the food. The duration of the wiggle part of the dance indicates the distance. While she is dancing, all the other bees will follow her dance, smelling the scent of the pollen, they will fly toward the scent in the air, that the pollen left behind from the bee carrying it on her legs.
These are cards showing the children how they can do the wiggle dance with the bees!
