I love reading my students Wild About Books by Judy Sierra.
The kids love that it rhymes and it teaches the students how to treat books.
This activity packs includes:
1. Sequencing activity: Your students can practice their sequencing skills by completing a Sequence Map. You can differentiate this activity by giving a blank sequence map or by having the students cut out the events and glue them on the sequence map.
2. Writing Prompt: I am wild about books because...
Students draw a picture of their favorite book and why they love it.
This includes one page with a large box on top for the drawing and a few lines for writing and one page with lines to write on.
This makes a great bulletin board and assessment for the first week of school.
3. Writing Poetry: This includes 1 page with an example of a Haiku and 1 page for students to draw and write their own Haiku on an animal from "Wild About Books".
4. Research Project Flip Flap Book: Students research an animal from "Wild About Books" and create a T.V. flip flap book on the animal.
