Don't you think that adjectives are FABULOUS, STUPENDOUS, and just plain GREAT? Wild about Writing with Adjectives is a fun and simple activity that gives students practice generating adjectives that describe a topic, and using those adjectives in sentences, or paragraphs.
Here's how it works... You choose one of the 26 topics included and distribute papers to students. The first several times you do this activity, help students generate six FASCINATING adjectives to write on the lines next to the topic picture. Next, students write sentences using the six adjectives chosen.
A blank form has been included where you can add a topic picture that you choose ( perhaps something you are learning about in science or social studies). The blank form is a great place for students to draw a topic picture as well. I have students draw Martin Luther King Jr., Christmas trees, valentine cards, family members, pets, friends, favorite things, leprechauns, American symbols, their favorite shoes, things they like or don't like... The possibilities are endless!
Here's what you get...
1. 26 pages with different fun topics to write about
2. Large version of the topic picture for charts or bulletin boards
3. Blank Form ( insert your own picture)
5. Examples of student work
6. Finally, students who are better descriptive writers! :)
