Product Description
Supporting Inuit, First Nations and Native American Literature in the Classroom

Wild eggs, written by Suzie Napayok-Short and beautifully illustrated by Jonathan Wright is one of the first books I use to introduce my integrated Inuit/Arctic unit to my students.

This unit integrates the reading comprehension strategies: connection, summarizing, and sequencing, with non-fiction reading and writing in Science and Socials Studies.

Information sheets are included to extend students' understanding of the arctic biome, including specific vegetation and animals mentioned in the story. The information sheets also double up as a base for teaching non-fiction point form note taking and non-fiction paragraph writing.

The lessons are designed to support a single read-aloud copy of the story. Writing assessment rubrics specific to each task are included.

To obtain a copy of this book and others like it, I recommend checking out Strong Nations, an online bookstore supplying indigenous and Native American books. Not only do they have an extensive selection, they provide themed book bundles for all age ranges.
