This product is a ready to print and use set of comprehension questions and answer key. There are 1 to 4 questions per chapter for the book. The questions for this story include literal and easy to find responses in the text to promote skills in young readers like returning to the text to find answers. There are also inferential questions that require students to think and reflect. They encourage student to think about the author’s message. The story and questions promote reflective thinking. Students will have to put themselves in the character’s mind to answer some of the questions. Students respond to the questions in complete sentences.
These questions can be used for literacy groups, silent reading, or guided reading groups. I use this story with my third grade students that are reading at grade level, however the book and questions can be used with much older students. My sixth grade students really enjoyed the story. The document includes an answer key with the responses highlighted in yellow, the student version, and a writing extension activity.
