These reading questions cover all five sections of Willa Cather's 1918 novel, My Antonia. Questions, for the most part, concern plot details and thematic development, especially the novel's mixture of realist and Romantic traits, as well as its focus on memory and nostalgia. There are 5-12 questions per section, suitable for homework or in-class discussion. (Books III and IV are lumped together, as they're shorter.) I've used them in AP Language/Composition class, as well as a combined American history/American literature class I co-teach.
I also have a number of Socratic Seminar questions I use with this particular novel, focusing especially on Cather's portrayal of women, the novel's narrative structure, and its connection to broader historical trends at the turn of the 19th century--don't hesitate to send me an e-mail if you'd like them!
