Product Description

This primary source analysis activity includes William B. Travis' famous "Victory or Death" letter from the Alamo.

A brief introduction provides students with the background info on Travis and his situation at the Alamo with General Santa Anna and the Mexican army. Then, both William B. Travis' letter and a postscript added by courier Launcelot Smithers are included for students to read.

Following this is a set of open-ended analysis questions for students to complete.

An editable Google Docs version of the activity and answer key are both included for your convenience.

A good companion activity for this primary source is this Texas Revolution, Alamo, and Mexican American War lesson. You can also download both resources with many, many more in my Manifest Destiny and Sectionalism Unit Bundle
