William Blake, a Romantic or Realist?
Every time I teach the Romantic time period, I search for a fun little quiz for my students to take to determine if they are a romantic or a realist (based on the literary definition). Unable to find one, I created a short little personality quiz that hooks the students and teaches them the literary definition of being a romantic. I have paired this with a close reading of William Blake's poems "The Chimney Sweeper" from Songs of Innocence and Experience. In addition, I stretched this lesson even further by transitioning to a piece of related informational text from The New York Times Upfront (link included).
