William Shakespeare, His Life and Times is am informational reading and writing unit for upper elementary students. It can be utilized equally in an ELA class or a Social Studies class. The four texts are continuous but do not have to be done all at once - they could be assigned one at a time.
Three of the one-page texts begins with a “before you read” question”, and all four have a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) as well as a page of vocabulary and grammar work. Each text has a short creative writing assignment.
The four texts are: Who was William Shakespeare?, The Young Shakespeare, Shakespeare Goes to London, and William Shakespeare’s Legacy. Each one is between 280-350 words in length.
