Product Description
William Shakespeare: was he really the author of the plays attributed to him? This is a perfect resource to have in your sub folder, to assign as homework, to use to introduce your Shakespeare unit, etc.

The resource includes
1) two reading passages about the theory that the man called William Shakespeare from Stratford was not actually the man who wrote the plays and poetry attributed to him - it examines the reasons these theories arose, William of Stratford’s background and documented evidence of his life, and mentions three men commonly put forth as “Shakespeare candidates” - Francis Bacon, Christopher Marlowe, and Edward de Vere (Earl of Oxford);
2) a list of ten vocabulary words found in the passages (5 from each) for students to define;
3) a list of six examples of figurative language for students to define and then use in sentences of their own;
4) seven questions on the two passages that encourage critical thinking and measure understanding;
5) a written assignment in which students summarize an online article concerning the question of Shakespeare's identity (several URLs are supplied) including some required information (they could also be assigned a specific one or find one of their own); and
6) answer keys for 2, 3, and 4 above.
