Directions – Classroom Quiz Show
This is a PowerPoint presentation that runs like a game show. There are 5 categories and 5 questions in each category. Students choose the category and question they would like (“wind” for 400) and the presenter clicks on the amount. The question appears, and another click reveals the answer. Then the presenter clicks on “Return to Game Board” and the next question can be asked.
You will need to make some decisions about how to play this. You can divide your class into however many teams are most suitable (I recommend three or four). You can decide to have a time limit or not, how long the limit will be, and whether one student on the team has to answer or if consultation is allowed. I recommend taking turns between teams in choosing the question and attempting to answer it, rather than having students “ring in” or raise their hands first – it is more orderly. You will have to keep your own score, as the program is not set up to do this. You should also decide if there is a penalty for an incorrect answer or not.
If you wish to have an incorrect answer result in the question being passed to another team, you will have to print out the slides and see the answers so you can check the answer and pass the question without revealing the answer on the screen.
