The attached file is a week-long lesson plan designed to go with the first grade Common Core Curriculum Map Unit "Winds of Change." In my progression, this would be week 3, however they do not have to be taught all together or in this particular order. This lesson plan is a 5 day plan along with a student packet with a cover page and four student activity pages. There is also additional links to videos and websites if you have access you YouTube, United Streaming or Brainpopjr.com. I have included both PDF and Word versions of each document if you would like to make changes to them.
The plans include: focus standards, vocabulary, essential questions, I can statements and technology links.
The focus standards are:
Rl.1.4. Identify words and phrases in stories or poems that suggest feelings or appeal to the senses.
RL.1.1. Ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
Students will read poetry from the Common Core Exemplar text list and then ask and answer questions. They will also practice identifying the feeling of a poem or story.
