Winter Activities for Phonological Awareness! Clothespin Activities - Rhyming, Syllables, Initial Sounds. This set of 3 Winter center activities focuses on the phonemic awareness skills of rhyming, syllable segmentation and initial sound discrimination using alliteration.
There are 32 rhyming activity cards, 72 syllable counting cards for words with 1, 2 or 3 syllables (plus 4 cards for 4 syllable words!) and 24 cards for identifying the beginning sounds of words.
These activities are self-correcting, engaging and a great fine motor skill work-out! Your little learners will practice 3 essential phonological awareness skills: identifying rhyming words, segmenting words into syllables and listening for initial sounds. The winter theme makes this pack great for Penguin or Snowman units in January or any time your students need practice with these key phonological awareness skills.
Each activity has 2 no-prep corresponding recording sheets so you can assess mastery of the skill. You can use these activities in small group or as individual work station or center activities.
