Snow Much Fun with Time
Telling Time can be a challenge for 2nd and 3rd graders. Students will learn how to tell time to the hour, half hour, quarter hour, 5-minute and minute intervals.

Read aloud Chat Cards (used by the teacher to discuss the book as it is being read)

If you want your students to read the books in small groups there is also a Circle Discussion Wheel. Groups of 4 students can read the book. Each student will have a job; Reader, Questioner, Character Analyst and Summarizer. The Discussion Wheel rotates to give each student a chance to have each job.
Snowman Writing Genre Project
Snowman Weather is here! Bring that snowman into your classroom for a creative writing project. This snowman writing project is a great way for students to experience six different genres of writing. Because they are all focused on a snowman theme, students experience the unique characterizes of each genre.
The Snowman Writing Genre Project covers six genres of writing;
narrative (fantasy, snowman comes to life)
functional (recipe for marshmallow snowman treat)
persuasive (Friendly Letter, persuade teacher to allow snowman contest)
poetry (diamante, comparing a snowman to a scarecrow)
informative (Missing Snowman flyer)
Informative (Nonfiction book report), including notecards from actual nonfiction book about the Abominable Snowman.
The Snowman Genre Project includes:
-Six student-friendly directions pages with writing process check lists
-a selection of 6 different graphic organizers, choose the one you want for each genre
-a final writing paper to match each genre with 2 sizes of line spacing (double and 1 ½).
-6 cover designs for a Snowman writing book.
-About the Author page, students can glue a picture of themselves on the snowman head.
Snowy Winter Days
