These Winter Coding Games
are a wonderful way to introduce coding to students or as a way to practice coding without technology. These activities are a great way to participate in the Hour of Code™
without using technology. Use this resource as a center for students to practice logical reasoning and sequencing of steps. Students should write or “program” a portion or the entire sequence before they “run” their program to see if it is correct. This is challenging and will help build their logical reasoning skills. There are no wrong answers unless students don’t collect all of the necessary pieces. There are many ways to complete the tasks. There are a number of types of boards and directions in this set so you can easily differentiate within your classroom. With a number of different boards, students can complete the same activity a number of times.
This resources is part of a money saving Seasonal Coding Bundle.
These games make great STEM
activity that can be played whole class, in groups, in partners or independently. The games can be put in a science center as a fun, seasonal activity. These activities are great for classrooms participating in The Hour of Code™.
There are 3 different activities
. For each activity, students use one of four program directions: move forward, turn right, turn left or repeat 2 times. There is a second option where students can write move forward a specific number of spots.
