This lesson is intended to introduce students to writing dialogue! Students will learn to liven up their writing with dialogue as they are given detailed and concise rules and suggestions for writing with dialogue. Examples of how dialogue can be used in writing are included, in addition to a practice page which allows students to identify dialogue in a brief narrative passage. After an introduction, lesson, and a bit of brief practice, students are then given the chance to write their own dialogue! Students may select from two scenarios and write dialogue for a few "winter creatures" based on the scenario of their choice. After writing and editing, students have the chance to see their dialogue come to life as they create finger puppets to represent their characters and "act out" their dialogue for classmates. This lesson is sure to be a memorable one! The wit and creativity of my students never cease to shock me when I see mastery of writing dialogue clash with their matchless creativity and personalities!
