In this Winter Emergent Reader, we've taken some of our favorite winter art and paired with repetitive text that reads, "I see/ I hear/ I smell/ I taste/ I touch __________". There are two items for each of the five senses, for a total of eleven pages, including the cover.
Save BIG: this winter emergent reader is also a part of a bundle: ★Winter Emergent Reader Bundle
You could REALLY differentiate this Winter Emergent Reader, and only include 5 pages for your struggling groups. We didn't number the pages precisely for this reason!
Images and text include:
I see ( snow falling, a snowman melting )
I smell (a fire burning, a pie baking )
I taste (hot cocoa, warm soup )
I hear ( a shovel scraping, wind blowing )
I touch ( fuzzy ear muffs, a cold snowball )
The books have 11 pages each, including the cover page that has an area for students to write their names.
There are two stories on each page. There's a black and white version for students to color, and there's also a color version for your guided reading groups.
We hope this emergent reader has your students excited about learning their five senses through familiar winter words, and gaining confidence as new readers!
