This project is an at-home family art project for the holidays and winter. It is called a "Winter Tree" and can be decorated any way the student and family see fit.
The idea for this project is for the family to become involved in the homework process, and to create a fun piece of art together. The trees come back very unique and quite impressive. The students enjoy sharing their tree with their classmates, and it encourages them to speak about the process of how they created it.
For older students, the project can serve as a writing-prompt for a classroom activity. Students can write about the process of creating their tree.
Parent instructions are included, two to a page. The instruction page should be cut in half and stapled to the blank tree before being sent home.
It is recommended the tree be printed on construction paper, heavy-weight paper, or cardstock, as students like to load up the blank trees with heavy mediums/decorations.
