Product Description
This Winter Fluency product is intended to give you and your students an easy to implement fluency building tool. Included in the packet are:
~4 lowercase fluency strips (8 letters per list)
~4 uppercase fluency strips (7 letters per list)
~7 mixed upper and lowercase fluency strips (8 letters per list)
~6 pre-primer words lists (10 words per list)
~recording sheet for lowercase, uppercase, mixed, and words progress
I designed this product to accommodate a variety of needs in a classroom. Some students can be working on letter naming while those who are ready can work on building their sight word vocabulary. As students begin to show mastery at their level they can move onto the next level.

An idea for implementation:
Photocopy each strip and word list on cardstock, cut apart, and laminate for durability. Assign students to the appropriate strip or word list. You’ll notice that in the bottom right corner of each strip/list there is a winter icon. I included these in case you wanted to monitor which strip/list a student was working on. Provide each student with the recording sheet that matches their strip/word list.
Students name the letters or read the words on their strip/list and then record their progress on their recording sheet. This could be done 1 on 1 with the teacher, with a classroom assistant, volunteer, or the students can be taught how to time each other with a stopwatch. I spend time teaching my students how to use the stopwatch to time a friend for 10 seconds (or your desired length of time). You’ll notice that I left the time blank on the recording sheet for the word lists. You can enter the time you feel is appropriate for your students.
The recording sheet is a valuable tool for assessing student progress as well as for planning for future instruction.
