This snow day themed addition resource provides fun and inviting math centers for learners to practice making ten. There are 5 missing addend addition clip card math activities in this packet. Each activity has 11 clothespin clip cards and a recording sheet. There is a missing addends addition fact and a choice of three numerals printed on each clothespin clip card. The cards and recording pages have matching winter themed graphics. The snow day themed graphics include kids sledding, kids building a snowman, kids with snowballs, and winter kids at a hot cocoa stand.
Print, laminate, and cut out the clothespin clip cards. Print the recording sheet that goes with the clothespin clip cards. You will need 11 clothespins for each activity.
Learners clip a clothespin on the correct missing addend or they can use dry erase markers to circle the correct missing addend. After selecting the correct missing addend, learners write the equation and sum on the recording sheet.
You may opt to make these cards self-checking by writing the answer on the back or marking a dot on the back at the correct spot. Put the cards in a dollar store photo album and use a dry erase marker to make a write-on/wipe-off activity. To save paper and keep your copy count low, learners may record their equations in their math journals instead of using the recording sheets. These cards make great activities for early finishers.
Winter Friends of 10 Addition Clip Cards help learners develop addition fluency and support the Math Common Core Standards for Operations and Algebraic Thinking.
