This writing activity can be used in literacy centers for when your students return from winter break or just during the long winter months. Students will be writing about what they like to do in winter by completing brainstorming graphic organizers where they are responding to questions: who, what, where, when and why. There are two versions- a version where they can draw pictures to respond and another version where they write words. Then students will draw a picture and write a detailed story using their graphic organizers to describe what they like to do in winter.
Common Core Alignment:
Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to narrate a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in which they occurred, and provide a reaction to what happened.
Write narratives in which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced events, include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide some sense of closure.
