Students find the genotypes and phenotypes of the offspring of winter holiday characters like Santa, Frosty the Snowman, and the Grinch by making Punnett squares in these three differentiated worksheets.
There are three worksheets in this resource. Each worksheet is two pages long and has six questions. The questions involve creating a Punnett square to determine the percent chance of possible genotypes and phenotypes in the offspring. The first worksheet (Worksheet A) is less vocabulary heavy and is meant to be used for students who need to focus mainly on genotype, phenotype, and Punnett squares. The second and third worksheets (Worksheets B and C) are more challenging so they include additional vocabulary words like hybrid, heterozygous, purebred, and homozygous in addition to genotype and phenotype. The worksheets have been created in this way so teachers can provide differentiated instruction for their students.
All three worksheets have the same questions—the questions are just phrased differently to provide more of a challenge for the students who complete Worksheet B (medium difficulty) or Worksheet C (hardest difficulty). The answers are the same for all worksheets.
