Five Silver Bells --A Winter Holiday Poem and Craftivity!
I created this poem, Five Silver Bells, to help increase students' fluency skills while having a little holiday fun. Choral reading helps develop fluency skills--and takes the pressure off individuals who struggle with reading. It's a great alternative to round robin reading.
Plus 2 Craft Options:
Choose the craft that best suits your class.
1. A bell shape book with the poem text...ready to print, color, cut and staple. Alternatively, turn this into a banner/bunting.
2. A paper advent tree
Love candy kisses? Besides a delicious treat, they make cute bells, too! A simple tree advent calendar is included with pattern pieces to trace or print directly on colored paper. Add the fun part--candy kisses to represent silver bells! Kids eat the first one five days before vacation...and so on. Or, if they just can't wait, let them take them home to eat right away.
Directions are also given for turning the bell book pages into a bunting or banner that can be laced/strung up with ribbon or string to hang in a window or on a door, or on a tree!
This is targeted for kindergarten through first grade, but some second graders who are working on fluency, may enjoy this packet, too!
Your feedback is helpful, so don't forget to check back once you have used this. I love to hear how things turned out!
I hope you and your kids enjoy this resource!
