    Description

Holiday social skills can be challenging for children with autism or special education needs. This winter holiday social story and holiday autism visual supports will be helpful to introduce concepts about holidays to preschool or early elementary age children and to suggest ways to deal with the stressors that winter break and holidays often present for children with autism. Fun worksheets are included such as gingerbread man, Christmas, and winter. Topics introduced in the social narrative include handling changes in routine such as not having school, different families celebrate different holidays in different ways, how to receive gifts politely, and what to do if you do not want to go to holiday events. A calendar is suggested in the social skills story and 2 versions of a blank calendar are provided to give the child a personal calendar to refer to as well as a 1-page mini coloring book that reviews the social story and an 18 ½ page (9 full page) coloring book of winter holiday vocabulary words.
