Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Diwali, Ramadan, and Chinese New Year! “Winter Holiday SCOOT” provides a fun and motivating way for your students to learn about the winter holidays celebrated by cultures other than their own. It’s a great activity as we enter the winter holiday season, and great for encouraging an attitude of acceptance and respect at any time of year.
***This SCOOT game is also part of a larger product including an amazing studio recorded holiday song, bookmarks, and posters. Miracle Holiday Scoot
The first set of 30 cards will provide information about six winter holidays. You may choose to use them as a SCOOT game, asking students to take notes on the answer sheet, or simply share one or two in class each day. The second set of 30 question cards should be used according to the SCOOT directions.
The rules are just like your usual Scoot games. Break cards are also provided, giving you a way to adjust the number of cards used for fewer or more students. There are blank cards provided as well for you to add some questions unique to your plan for your students.
The responses can be used later as students discuss and write about all they have learned about the winter holidays celebrated all around them. I’ve included optional pages to use for making a little book about the holidays. Just print front to back with blank four card pages and then cut apart. Attach with a staple, ribbon, or plastic ring.
I hope you will enjoy using this version of SCOOT to focus on diversity in your learning community this year!
