Put all dominoes face down in a central pile. Students each take 6 dominoes. The first domino played must be a double (same word on both sides). If more than one player has a double the domino that begins with the letter a or closest to a plays first. Players take turns in a clockwise motion. Players must match a word in order to make a play. Player lays domino with matching words touching and reads the word out loud.
If a match cannot be made the player must draw a new domino from the pile, if a match can be made the player plays the domino. If a match still cannot be made, then the player loses a turn. The first player to play all his or her dominoes wins the round.
All players count number of dominoes left in his or her hand. Each domino is one point. All dominoes are returned to the central pile and mixed. Players follow rules of play for two more rounds. After three rounds of game play, the player with the lowest score wins.
