Encourage writing with these easy, interactive writing prompts. Each prompt set includes a rhyming prompt, space for the student’s illustration, a glue-on flap, and space for the student’s writing or dictation. There are five prompts, one each for descriptive writing, persuasive writing, narrative writing and two for informational writing.

Tree House:
What is living in this tree?
Who is hiding from you and from me?
(Draw animals you might find living in a tree. Write about them.)

Snow Me
I found Frosty’s magic hat.
I turned into a snow kid, just like that!
(Draw yourself as a kid. Draw yourself as a snowperson; then describe how you look.)

Flying High:
A feathered friend flew by and said, “Hi!”
It took me on a flight high in the sky.
(Draw a scene from your story. Write what you saw.)

Snow Easy:
It’s “snow” easy to build a frosty friend.
Follow these steps from the start to the end.
(Draw a snowman. Tell how to build it.)

Snow Pal Persuasion
Frosty must go or he’ll melt to the ground.
Can you convince him to stay around?
(Draw a melted snowman. Write persuasive sentences or tell about your plan for keeping it.)
