I love this unit because it is like a big reading review, but it’s disguised as a really fun thematic winter unit. The topics are interesting and are not specific to a particular holiday, so they can be used any time during the winter.
I really like the worksheets included. I researched and wrote original pieces that are focused on key reading concepts but have kid friendly topics like penguins, bears, snowmen and more! I think your kids will really like them!
The writing prompts page has ideas for narrative as well as paragraph writing. There are several different writing papers for you to use. I love to incorporate poetry throughout the year and winter provides some beautiful ideas for haiku poetry.
I hope you enjoy this unit and find it to be useful in your classroom.
