Winter Match and Write - snowman, snow angel. snowplow, sledding, ice skating, hockey, snowball, hat, mitten, scarf, snowflake, and igloo
This resource includes six pages of cards (four cards per page) in color with a total of 24 cards. Each card has a winter picture and the word to match the picture is written under the picture. Teachers should copy the cards on cardstock (for durability and saving for future years) or plain paper, laminate (if desired), and cut apart.
This resource is great to put in a writing center. Cards can be used in a pocket chart or put on a ring for students to write about or the cards can be used for a game as described below.
Students can play a matching game by turning all of the cards over in rows and taking turns turning two cards over one at the time. The key to this is to remember where each card is if students do not get a match showing the same picture. When students do get a match for the same picture, they keep the cards and take another turn. The person at the end to have the most matches is the winner. There are 12 pictures in all and six colors are used for the cell phones which means that two different pictures are on the same color cell phone. Students need to look at the pictures and the colors to make sure they have the correct match.
Feel free to change the rules of the game to match your needs.
Students will also get two sheets numbered 1-6 and 7-12. As a match is made, have students write a sentence including the name of the picture shown on the cards.
***There are eight total pages: 6 card pages and 2 sentence writing pages.
The PREVIEW shows every page included.
This activity is great for a center or for early finishers.
I hope your students have fun with this match and write activity.
