This set of winter math games/station activities includes: Build a Snowman Math Challenge, Mitten Math, Snowball Splat and Penguin Race. In "Build a Snowman", students may choose to multiply numbers or add numbers to generate a product or sum. Each product or sum has an instruction to build a snowman. The first player to build his or her snowman is declared the winner. Mitten Math addresses the target number of 50. Using a pair of mittens, students must match one part of a number to another either through addition or subtraction to generate an answer of 50. Snowball Splat is an activity that allows students to practice their place value using various sections of hundreds charts. The "splat" symbolizes a number hidden on the section of the chart. Finally, Penguin Race involves dividing numbers from 1 to 20 by 2. Students play based on the quotient being a decimal or a whole number.
