This is a fun game for second and third grade students, but it may be appropriate for first graders as well. Children will take turns answering mat questions in order move themselves forward from the North Pole to the Winter Tree House. The math questions deal number sense and geometry. Students are asked to make combinations of 10, compute doubles combinations, and word problems. There are 2 levels of play allowing for differentiating instruction. The +1 cards are easier, and the +2 cards are more difficult. The game also contains blank cards, so you can add your own math questions to suit your students' needs (or change the game to reinforce a different subject). This game is a great way to review math terms and can be used in small groups and math centers.
