Winter Number Fun is a set of math centers focusing on number sense and basic operations to 100 including building and comparing numbers, rounding, adding and subtracting, and telling time to the minute.
The pack includes 6 centers
Rounding Center #1: Students use a number line to round numbers between 1 and 100 to the nearest ten. A recording sheet has been included for this activity.
Time Center #2: Students match skates into pairs. Each successful pair will have an analogue clock with a matching standard clock.
Place Value Center #3: Students match a number written in standard form with a card stating how many tens and ones are in the number. Students are encouraged to build the numbers with base ten blocks as a scaffold.
Place Value Comparison Center #4: Students build 2 numbers with base ten blocks and then write in a less than or greater than sign to complete the comparison. **I suggest laminating this station so students can write on it directly with dry erase markers. I have included 6 bonus cards for this station that have numbers larger than 100 for students who need an additional challenge.
Fact Families Center #5: Students match a snowman head with 3 numbers on it with two body pieces. The top body piece has the two related addition equations and the bottom body piece has the two related subtraction equations. I have included a recording sheet with this station.
Subtraction Center #6: Students use a number line to solve a number of subtraction problems up to sums of 20. I suggest laminating the subtraction cards so students can write their answers directly on the cards at the station.
