This is a word family sort for some of the most frequently read word endings for beginning readers. It includes a word sort for each of the vowels. The word families included are: -ant, -and, -int, -ing, -ent, -et, -ump, -ust, -op, -ot. The manipulative word family endings are used as categories for sorting 15 words per sort.
Students can complete this hands-on activity individually or with a partner. These word family sorts are great for literacy centers, as students can cut out, sort by word endings, read the words in each word family, check with a classmate, and glue their work on a T-chart for accountability.
