This is a packet full of math and literacy activities for first grade in winter. All activities require NO PREP and are FUN and engaging for students. They are common core aligned and the standard addressed is printed at the top of each sheet.

*Proofreading Practice: Read a passage, circle the mistakes, and rewrite the passage correctly
*Subtraction Facts: Practice subtracting within 10 as fast as you can
*Christmas Graphing: Complete a graph and answer the questions
*Capitalization - Rewrite the sentence with correct capitalization
*Capitalization 2 - Sort the words by whether or not they should be capitalized
*How to Decorate a Christmas Tree - Draw and write the steps to decorating a Christmas tree
*Coloring Capitals - Color the words that should be capitalized green and the words that should not be capitalized red
*Comparing Characters - Read a story about elves and compare the two main characters
*Compound Word Search - Read a Christmas story and record the compound words
*Homophones - Complete sentences with the correct homophone (one, won, to, two, four, and for)
*Long Vowel Search - Read a story and circle the long vowels
*Number Line - Count up and back on a number line and color the numbers correctly based on where you land
*Punctuation and Capitalization - Add the correct punctuation marks and capitalize the correct words in a passage about the holidays
*Skip Counting to Solve Number Stories - Skip count on a number grid to solve word problems
*Using Capitals - Write a passage to answer questions about yourself using correct capitalization
*Word Sort - Sort words by words that are spelled the way they sound and words that are not

*Snow Book: Read, illustrate, and build a book about a trip to the snow

*Digraphs – Write the correct digraph to complete each word
*Double Digit Addition – Solve the double digit addition problems (no regrouping)
*Double Digit Addition (Counting Up) – Count up by tens and ones on the number gird to solve double digit addition problems.
*Missing Comas – Add the missing comma(s) to each sentence
*Nouns – Color the snowflakes that contain nouns
*Sorting Nouns – Sort common, proper, and possessive nouns
*Tens and Ones – Count the base ten blocks
*Winter Word Web – Read the passage about winter and complete the word web to show main ideas and key details

*Adding Doubles: Practice your doubles addition facts
*Addition Facts: Practice answering addition problems to 14 quickly
*Addition Word Problems: Read the word problem, write the number sentence, and answer the question (using three addends)
*Characters and Setting: Read the Valentine’s Day story and draw a picture of the setting and characters.
*Pronouns: Circle the pronoun in each sentence.
*Pronouns 2: Change the nouns in each sentence to pronouns.
*Coloring Capitals - Color the words by whether or not they should be capitalized
*Comparing Numbers (2): Identify the largest and smallest number in a group of numbers, Use the <, >, or = sign to compare two numbers
*Create-a-Word-Search: Design a word search for your classmates to complete.

*George Washington and Abraham Lincoln Word Webs: Complete word webs about two famous presidents.
*Make it True: Add the missing number or symbol to each number sentence to make it true.
*Making Plurals (3): Practice turning singular words into plurals.
*Common, Proper, and Possessive Nouns: Sort nouns into the correct category.
*Subtraction Facts: Practice subtracting within 10 as fast as you can.
*Time to the Hour: Write the correct time under each analog clock.
*Valentine’s Day Graphing: Complete a graph and answer the questions
*Capitalization - Rewrite the sentence with correct capitalization
