Winter Olympics 2018* Winter Sports or Winter Games: Writing Prompt Crafts is a fun way to add a craft to a writing prompt. There is a craft for each of the following seven winter olympic sports in this package: snowboarding, figure skating, ice hockey, luging (luge), skiing, bobsledding, and even a bonus topic of snowman building! This is a great writing assignment to use when your students are watching the Winter Olympics 2018.
You have lots of options. For each sport, there is a cover page that includes the sport's name followed by four different writing prompts. These are prompts that you can print "as is" and the student will color the sports image and write on the topic.
The prompts for each sport are as follows:
If a were a snowboarder (figure skater, hockey player, luger, skier, bobsledder, or snowman builder)
All about snowboarding (figure skating, ice hockey, skiing, bobsledding, snowman building)
Snowboarding (figure skating, ice hockey, skiing, bobsledding, snowman building) is my favorite winter sport
S (F, I, S, B, S) is for Snowboarding (figure skating, ice hockey, skiing, bobsledding, snowman building)
Use the last prompt for students to list additional words that begin with the same letter, assign your own topic, or let students come up with their own topic. This topic is also formatted as a write and draw or just a draw prompt.
Next, you will find the same topics formatted for a page topper. If you choose these prompts, add the winter sports image and the snowflakes after those prompts. You can will print these page toppers and ask your students to color or paint them.
The last three items for each winter sport are graphic organizers to help with the writing process. Each winter sport has a clustering/web word organizer, a can/have/need chart, and a KWL (Know, Want to Know, Learned) chart.
