Help students listen for the sounds in words with this common core aligned game! Print a game board for each student or one for a small group. You will also need to provide students with a game piece. The first player draws a card, tells how many sounds are in the word, and then moves that many spaces. Each snowflake is one spot. The first player to get to the snowman is the winner! This would be great in a literacy center or used to prepare students for phoneme segmentation fluency (PSF) for Dibels.
2 sounds: pie, two, zoo, Earth, bow
3 sounds: hat, kite, net, sock, boot, pig, apple, eagle, fox, boat,
4 sounds: vest, slide, lamp, ladder, drum, snail, bread
Here are other games for phoneme segmentation practice.

Butterfly Phoneme Segmentation
