Description

This winter sight word practice provides 5 hands-on activities to solidify reading skills in kindergarten. Developed by an occupational therapist and using the Fry 100 Word List, each winter task addresses fine motor and visual motor skill development as well.

For each activity, choose whichever sight words you would like to work on (all 100 Fry words are provided for each activity). Activities are presented with an occupational therapy “twist” (to address fine motor, visual scanning, and visual motor skills) and provide a multi-sensory approach to learning sight words.

Winter activities include:

1- Dress a Snowman!

Story: “Dress a Snowman” teaches children what they need to dress a snowman.

Activity: Children pick a sight word card with a hat, scarf, buttons, or branches, then they try to read the sight word. Next, they glue the clothes onto the snowman to dress him.

2- It's Snowing!

Story: “Its Snowing” shows children that snow falls in the winter and covers the ground. They learn that every snowflake is different.

Activity: Kids make “snowflakes” by drawing small squares on the sight word cards.

3- Big Snowballs! Little Snowballs!

Story: “Big Snowballs! Little Snowballs!” is a fun way to have kids make a winter picture.
