-- winter snow globe writing and art project, kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, writing center --
Students write 1 to 3 sentences about adventures in the snow! To write more than a few sentences, just stack up the writing paper and staple at the top! More advanced students can write "First,... Next,... Last,..." format (e.g., How do you build a snowman?).
Cut out written paper (1st blackline, included) on thick line. Use glue stick to glue to black or dark gray cut-out paper (2nd blackline, included).
Print 3rd blackline (included) on light blue paper. Have students color themselves in winter clothing on "ground" line. Then, have students paint white, snow-covered ground and “snowflakes” falling down using eraser-end of pencil dipped in white paint. (An alternative would be to copy on white construction paper, have students color scene using plenty of white crayon for snow, then use light-blue watercolor over top. Crayon resists the watercolor!)
Last, have students cut out circle and glue to the top of snow globe base. Great cross-curricular project for a wintry bulletin board!
