Need a fun but challenging activity to drive away the winter blues? Then this is for you! You can pick and choose activities or complete the whole bundle. I use this to review some of our Science Process skills and jump into the spring semester after the holidays.
I start with critical thinking as we solve the Who’s Who puzzle individually and check it together. (For younger students, solving this together works great, too.) Then we discuss the top of the “One of the Gang” page and complete the definitions and both charts. Finally, I use the double Venn Diagram for my younger students and the triple for my older.
When we are done, we use the snowmen to do some fun winter creative writing. First we brainstorm some story starters. Then we cut out one of the snowmen, glue it into our journals, write, and share our stories orally. (I’ve included some possible writing topics on page 10.)
