Playing games is a super fun way for children to learn sight words. If your children find it boring to learn sight words by writing them or reading them off flash cards over and over again then playing games will bring back the motivation to learn.
Every time I find my students drifting off I would quickly whip out a game and the excitement would go back up.
There are many games out there but this one is quick to assemble (just print, laminate - optional, and cut), easy to play and inexpensive.
The aim of the game is for children to spot a sight word they can read and when they read it they get to keep the card. The one with the most correctly read cards is the winner. The element of competition will urge children to learn more sight words.
